A 1992 Honda NR750 sold at a Bonhams auction for £57,500.

The German-registered bike cost £35,000 in 1993, five times as much as a Fireblade of the same year. The bike has covered 6,400 miles and has been pride of place in the office of a German businessman until it was put up for sale through Bonhams.

The NR750 is seen as a technological tour-de-force. The V4 engine boasts oval pistons, twin titanium con-rods and eight valves per piston. Elements of the forward-thinking NR750, features like underseat exhausts, side-mounted radiators, carbon-fibre bodywork and indicators set in the mirrors can all be seen on today's modern motorcycles.

Despite the eye-watering £57,500 final sale price, this NR750 wouldn't have made a good investment if owned from new. The £35,000 price-tag in 1993, equates to around £60,000 in today's money.
