First 2015 BMWs revealed

First 2015 BMWs revealed

BMW HAS unveiled the first of its updates for 2015, including a new ‘Motorsport’ version of the K1300S and tweaks to the R1200GS, K1600 and K1200RT.

Here’s an overview of the changes:


BMW K 1300 S Motorsport

It might be largely overshadowed by BMW’s newer models but the K1300S remains in the range and for 2015 comes as a ‘Motorsport’ edition. Basically a paintjob made up of Black storm metallic, Light white and Lupine blue metallic, combined with red decorative stripes. The Motorsport also gets a tinted screen, Akrapovic silencer, HP wheels and HP footrests for both the rider and pillion.


BMW R 1200 GS

Gets the heavier crankshaft that’s already used in the R1200 GS Adventure and R1200RT. A ‘Keyless Ride’ system will also become an option, allowing the steering lock and fuel filler to be locked or unlocked by sensing the proximity of the key fob and the bike to be started on the button without having to put a key in. Shift Assistant Pro, the clutchless up- and down-change system revealed on the RT, also becomes an option on the GS.
Colours will be:
Alpine white
Frozen dark blue metallic
Black storm metallic


BMW R 1200 GS Adventure

As well as gaining the option of Keyless Ride and Shift Assistant Pro, GS Adventure buyers will be able to specify a 30mm  lower seat than before. Even shorter riders will be able to specify the stock GS seat, lowering it by a further 20mm.


BMW R 1200 RT

The Keyless Ride option can also be added to the RT in 2015, but the other changes are limited to colours:
San Marino blue metallic/ Granite grey metallic matt


BMW K 1600 GT and GTL

Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) becomes standard, while Keyless Ride is now an option.
Other new special equipment features for the K 1600 GT/ GTL include daytime riding light and Hill Start Control for easy hill starts. The K 1600 GT and GTL are now also fitted with the instrument panel of the K 1600 GTL Exclusive.
New colours are:
Black storm metallic (GT and GTL)
Glacier silver metallic (GTL)
Light white (GT)


BMW F 700 GS

No tech changes, but new colours in the form of:
Alpine white
Black storm metallic/ Racing red / frame finished in red / spring of the spring strut finished in red
Racing blue metallic matt


BMW F 800 GS

Colour changes only. Next year's bikes come in:
Light white / Black storm metallic / frame finished in red / spring of the spring strut finished in red
Racing red
Alpine white


BMW F 800 GS Adventure

Colours again:
Alpine white
Kalamata metallic matt


BMW F 800 GT

No mechanical updates, colours will be:
Montego blue metallic
Dark graphite metallic
Light white


BMW K 1300 R

Just one colour for 2015:
Sapphire black metallic/ Black satin gloss
