KAWASAKI is working on a lower-spec version of the supercharged Ninja H2, called the Ninja R2, according to Japanese bike magazine Young Machine.

If Young Machine is right (and it wouldn't be the first time) it would explain why Kawasaki has trademarked 'Ninja R2', as revealed by Visordown earlier this year.

It would also make sense for Kawasaki to spread the development cost of the Ninja H2 by producing more supercharged models.

It's not clear exactly how the R2 might differ from the H2, since the magazine's rendering has changed little aside from the colour.

The same issue also features a new mock-up of the rumoured Ninja S2, supposedly a supercharged 650. Both are reportedly due to be unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of this month.
