YAMAHA unveiled a new concept rally bike at its Eicma presentation – the T7, and it looks like a proper off-road adventure weapon.

It’s inspired by the iconic XT660Z Tenere and uses the MT-07 as a base although the chassis is all new and it's powered by a specially developed version of the MT’s 689cc parallel-twin engine. It's meant to have proper off-road ability, which is why it's been developed by Yamaha's official rally team, with what it says is 'race bred DNA'.

Details include an aluminium fuel tank, four-projector LED headlight, a carbon fairing and skid plate, and a custom made Akrapovič exhaust plus KYB front suspension. It certainly looks like a bike that's genuinely ready for an adventure but we'll have to wait and see what the production version turns out like and it's still two years away from showrooms.
