A MEMBER of the bin Laden family is joining British Superbikes in 2012.

Saudi Arabian racer Abdul aziz bin Laden will join Scott Smart, racing a Ducati 1199 Panigale with the Moto Rapido team in the top flight.

Abdul aziz bin Laden is a two-time United Arab Emirates superbike champion. His family run the Saudi Binladen Group (SBG), a global oil conglomerate, grossing over £3 billion pounds anually.

Abdul aziz is a a third-generation member of the bin Laden family, Osama bin Laden was a second-generation member - disowned by the family in 1994 after speaking out against the US preparations for the Gulf War.

Abdul aziz bin Laden competed in a handful of Superstock 1000 rounds last year on a BMW S10000RR and said: “I’m very proud to take part in BSB for what Saudi Falcons see as the fastest-growing Superbike series in the world."
