J.Juan is estimated to be worth €73m and has been supplying the automotive industry, both two and four-wheeled, for more than 55 years. It has two manufacturing plants in Spain, and one in China, and manufactures everything from master cylinders, calipers, brake discs and hoses.

While J.Juan is not considered a market leader in the field, its products are found on a host of brands that you will likely have heard of. Triumph has used J.Juan hoses on some models for a while now, while the Spanish firm is the manufacturer of choice for the stoppers on Zero’s electric motorcycles.

The acquisition will allow Brembo to press on with its global growth, but there is one particular business unit within J.Juan that is of particular interest to Brembo. J.Juan is a massive producer of brake system hoses. The purchase of the group will allow Brembo to offer an end-to-end braking solution, backed up by the kind of manufacturing potential that would take years for Brembo to build itself.

Alberto Bombassei, Chairman of Brembo commented:

“We are proud to welcome J.Juan in the Brembo Group… This transaction is in line with our global strategy and follows the recent acquisition of SBS Friction in Denmark. We continue to invest with the aim of strengthening our motorbike core business. The addition of J.Juan is a great opportunity for us, as it reinforces our positioning as a company increasingly oriented to offering comprehensive, integrated, and high-quality solutions to our customers.”

José Luis Juan, CEO of J.Juan said:

“We are glad to join the Brembo Group. The transaction will allow us to become part of a strong company with a solid global footprint that will support J.Juan’s development for the professional growth of all our employees and the benefit of customers.”

The deal is not totally signed off yet, with the approval of the Antitrust authorities still to sign off on the deal. It is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.
