Which SHARK Helmet is Right For You?
The range of SHARK on-road sports and touring helmets offers something for all, from new riders to MotoGP stars
Founded in Marseille in 1989, SHARK Helmets has gone from strength to strength and are now a regular choice for road racers, WorldSBK stars, and the icons of MotoGP.
They are also a prime option for those who ride away from the racing circuit, be it for commuting, urban mobility, touring, or general pleasure riding. The range has also increased in size for 2024, with new options for riders looking for value over performance and features, and the new-for-2024 RS Jet open-face helmet means more flexibility for urban riders and those in hotter climates.
To help you find the perfect helmet for the way you ride, we’ve compiled a list of SHARK motorcycle helmets from the 2024 range, details the key features, price and which type of rider the helmet is best suited to.
Aeron GP - MSRP £949.99 - weight - 1,410g
Sitting at the top of the range is SHARK’s most technologically advanced motorcycle helmet ever. It’s also the first motorcycle helmet to utilise a kind of active aerodynamic system, which adapts the profile of the helmet as you ride. The system uses flaps mounted on the rear spoiler of the helmet that can open when you sit up and close when you tuck in behind the screen of the bike. Not only is active aero such as this really cool to see on a helmet, but it’s also claimed to reduce fatigue on the rider’s neck and turbulence.
The Aeron GP is the very same model you can see being worn by MotoGP riders Johan Zarco and Miguel Oliveira and is based on the already extremely high-spec Race-R Pro GP FIM. That means you are already getting all the high-end features that make the helmet such a popular choice amongst racers. With that in mind, the SHARK Aeron GP is best put to work on the track, although with fatigue-reducing tech and stunning carbon and graphic finishes on offer, those who ride sports bikes on the road will not be disappointed.
The Aeron GP comes with a tear-off and five more in the box
Spartan GT Pro Carbon - MSRP £479.99 - 1,440g
For a more road-oriented helmet with a sports-touring focus - that still offers a high level of protection - the best-selling SHARK Spartan GT Pro Carbon should be considered. Its less aggressive design makes it a perfect choice for commuting, touring or weekend jaunts, and it boasts a host of helpful features such as a drop-down antifog sun visor, easy fit for glasses, Emergency Release System, it’s Pinlock-ready (with one included) and comes Sharktooth intercom compatible - all right out of the box.
Skwal i3 - MSRP £259.99 - 1,585g
SHARK hasn’t just poured innovation into its top-line racing helmets, as the Skwal i3 boasts world-first signature smart LED lighting technology. Based on the highly successful Skwal helmet, the i3 features position lights on the front of the helmet and active brake lights at the rear. The system is powered by an integrated triaxial accelerometer, meaning no external wires and no need to link the system to your phone's Bluetooth connection. Simply brake and the lights will come on! Definitely helps protect against those ‘didn’t see ya mate, sorry!’ incidents…
On top of the electrical innovation included with the i3, it also features all the standout features of the popular D-Skwal range, meaning you get easy fit for glasses, a drop-down antifog sun visor and Pinlock compatibility. It's a lot of helmet for the money.
If you like the sound of it, but want it without the nifty lights, check out the D-Skwal, priced from £179.99. Both the SHARK Skwal i3 and D-Skwal 3 also come with a Pinlock to prevent visor fogging.
Ridill 2 - MSRP £139.99 - 1,470g
A new addition to the SHARK range for 2024 is the Ridill 2, the ideal entry point into the world of SHARK motorcycle helmets. Like all the other helmets mentioned above, it features all the features you’d expect, like an easy fit for glasses, a micro lock buckle fastener, an antifog sun visor and Pinlock (sold separately) and Sharktooth compatibility.
On top of that, the new SHARK Ridill 2 proves that protection and features don’t have to break the bank, and as it starts at just £139.99, the Ridill 2 makes it the perfect choice for new riders, commuters, or those looking for a cost-effective second helmet to add to their collection. The colour schemes and graphic options available for it are pretty ‘fire’ as the youth would say - and the iridium visors complete the ‘fit’...
RS Jet - MSRP £299.99 - 1,430g
A brand-new addition to the SHARK family for 2024 is the new open-race RS Jet. Ideal for scooter owners and urban riders, the SHARK RS Jet is available in several colours and finishes including matt and gloss carbon options.
Designed to provide outstanding performance on the road, the RS Jet features a multi-axial composite/carbon fibre shell multi-density EPS liner. Comfort is optimised thanks to its adjustment and ergonomic shape, as well as exceptional optical quality with its Pinlock 120 Max Vision anti-fog visor and removable UV380 anti-fog sun visor. The RS Jet is also designed to minimise aerodynamic drag, with the shell shape reducing the buffeting effect that can cause fatigue. An upshot of this is a reduction in noise and an increase in rider comfort.
