YAMAHA has revealed this updated version of the MT-09 for 2017, with a restyling influenced by the MT-10 and a new slipper-clutch and quick-shifter.

The 2017 MT-09 has new MT-10-style ‘twin-eye’ headlights, each consisting of two LED bulbs. Beneath them sit another pair of slim daytime running lights.

The instrument panel has been moved closer to the headlight assembly and the indicators moved closer to the radiator.

It’s also got a new tail-unit and a 30mm shorter upswept sub-frame.

A new LED tail light forms an ‘M’ when viewed from above according to Yamaha (handy for people in aeroplanes) and the seat is flatter and 5mm higher.

The rear mudguard and number plate holder is mounted on the swing-arm and there are new side fins on the radiator and larger tank-mounted air scoops.

It’s gained an assist and slipper clutch to reduce back-torque on downshifts and an up-shift quick-shifter, while a compression damping adjuster has been added to the left fork tube.

The silencer has also been restyled, with a ‘flatter surface and a new end cap that contributes towards the MT-09's impression of condensed mass and mechanical beauty’, says Yamaha.

Colour options are ‘Race Blue’, ‘Tech Black’ or ‘Night Fluo’.

The 2017 MT-09 was revealed today at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany, and is due to go on sale in December.
