2025 Yamaha XSR900 Given Lightest of Updates
Yamaha’s retro naked XSR900 has been given a very small refresh for 2025 with a larger TFT dash being the highlight
The updated TFT dash aboard the 2025 Yamaha XSR900 features a new five-inch layout while the bike also meets Euro5+ standards.
Its new dash replaces the outgoing 3.5-inch display and the bike is available from £11,000 in both the Legend Red and Midnight Black colourways. The refreshed XSR900 retains its retro naked appearance but continues to look very different from the XSR900 GP model which we tested earlier this year at Donington Park.
As mentioned, the bike remains very similar to the previous generation model, although its liquid-cooled three-cylinder engine, with a displacement of 890cc, has been tickled to meet Euro5+ requirements. It still produces 117.3bhp at 10000rpm and 68.6Ib ft of torque at 7000rpm.
Keeping the same frame as before, the 2025 XSR900 also retains its spin-forged wheels and cruise control system, while it also features a Brembo radially mounted master cylinder, like before. Seat height comes in at a manageable 810mm and the motorcycle has a claimed wet weight of 193kg.
Yamaha has not bothered to change much with the XSR900 ever since the 2022 model was introduced, and with good reason because its current model has been very popular in the space.
When the 2022 model arrived, the similarities between itself and the MT-09 were clear for all to see, and this remains the case thanks to the engine. The MT-09 and MT-09 SP models both feature the same three-cylinder engine setup and produce the same power figures as a result.
The braking configuration remains the same across both the XSR900 and MT-09 families, with a dual disc at the front with 298mm of travel, while the rear features a single disc with 245mm of travel. The link suspension and swingarm set-up are also the same across both models, as are the 41mm forks at the front of the bike.
