2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure AMT: Here’s Our First Look
The first images of the incoming KTM 1390 Super Adventure AMT have been released by engineering firm Bosch
Bosch has released some images showing what is thought to be the first KTM to gain the Austrian firm’s new Automated Manual Transmission or AMT.
The bike seen in the pics is, quite obviously, the new 1390 Super Adventure. The range-topping bike is thought to be landing in three flavours, standard S, S Evo and the more off-road biased R variant. That final bike is one we’ve already had a sneak peek of, thanks to Johnny Aubert piloting an AMT-equipped machine in the gruelling Red Bull Erzbergrodeo.
The other variants of the KTM haven’t been seen until now, though. The bike shown in these new pictures wears completely revised bodywork, although still boasts the underslung fuel tank to help keep the bike’s centre of gravity as low as possible. Other elements we can see are Brembo brakes and manually adjusted WP Apex suspension. What we don’t know is whether this is the base model S or the S Evo version of the bike. There are rumours, though, that suggest that the higher-spec bike is to gain semi-active electronically adjusted suspension, as found on the outgoing 1290 Super Adventure S.
Powering the bike is the same engine we’ve already seen in the 2024 1390 Super Duke R, meaning the V-twin has swelled to 1,350cc although confirmed power figures for the adventure bike aren’t yet known. We know the 1390 Super Duke R gained 10bhp over the 1290, taking the booming naked to the heady heights of 190bhp. While we don’t expect such otherworldly numbers from the Super Adventure, a 10bhp uplift from the outgoing 1290 Super Adventure, which could take the 1390 to 170bhp, is more likely.
Should that be the case, it’d put the KTM adventure bike right at the top of the ADV bike charts in terms of power output, with only the track-focused 177bhp Ducati Multistrada V4 RS offering more shove.
The really big news with these images though is that they come from Bosch, which has been extensively testing the electronics package on the 1390 which it is responsible for developing. The electronics package added to the bike will make the big KTM the most technologically advanced model from the Mattighofen maker, with it including radar-assisted cruise control, and blind spot detection, and it will also be able to pull away from a stopped position. Other advancements include a Group Ride Assist (GRA) function which can detect the closest bike in a group, alter the speed of the motorcycle and even track the motorcycle’s movement, meaning it knows if it is moving around or changing lanes.
The radar system is the second generation of its Advanced Rider Assistance System (ARAS) and will be joined on this model by KTM’s newly announced AMT. The new KTM AMT gearbox gets a full explanation here, although it stands alone in the motorcycle segment in that it offers fully automated shifting, button shifts on the handlebar, and manual foot-operated shifting via the traditional gear lever.
That is about all we can tell you about the incoming bike at this time, although with EICMA just around the corner and KTM planning a triumphant return to Milan, we won’t have to wait long to find out all the information.
