Jorge Martin will Miss the First Two MotoGP Races of 2025, Say Aprilia
Aprilia has confirmed that Jorge Martin will miss the second round of the 2025 MotoGP season in Argentina, with a return date still to be announced

Aprilia star Jorge Martin is set to miss the first two races of the 2025 MotoGP season, with a return date still unknown.
The setbacks for the factory Aprilia rider have been numerous already in 2025, with two big crashes ruling him out of the last pre-season test, leaving him little seat time with the RS-GP.
Adding to the woe was the news that broke earlier this week, that Martin had been injured in a separate training incident which would rule him out of the opening round in Thailand. We now know that the injury is also going to see him miss the second round of the 2025 MotoGP season in Argentina, with Aprillia Racing’s CEO confirming the news.

At the beginning of the week, Aprilia reported that the rider from Madrid had undergone surgery on the new injury, thanks to the famed MotoGP medic, Dr. Xavier Mir. Aprilia went on to report that Martin had suffered a “complex fracture of the radius” and some “carpal bones” on the left side, as well as an “ipsilateral calcaneal fracture”, all of which occurred during a training session.
What the press release from Aprilia did not confirm was the timeframe for Martin’s recovery, and while was certain he’d miss this weekend’s season-opening Thai Grand Prix, it appears as though a quick return is not insight. Aprilia did confirm that his prognosis would be evaluated based on his clinical condition, meaning his return to racing will be governed by his fitness.
In an update provided on his social media platforms on 26 February, Martin spoke for the first time, saying: “The blows are always hard, but when they come one after another, the impact is multiplied,” Martin wrote.
“This time they have been especially strong, both physically and mentally, and have made me miss the opening race of the season for the first time in my life. The year has not started as I would have liked.
“On Monday, while I was training for the first time after the fall in Sepang to arrive in the best possible condition for Thailand, I suffered a highside that caused four new fractures, in addition to the three I had already suffered from two weeks ago.”
“If there is one thing I am clear about, it is that blows can be overcome,” added Martin. “I don't know if this will make me stronger, but I do know that I will get through it, as I have always done.
“Now my only goal is to recover 100 per cent to compete again and enjoy my passion, which is motorcycles. Because there are many races, but there is only one hand. Thanks to Aprilia for supporting me at all times, to my family, to all my fans and to all the people who encourage me every day. From the bottom of my heart.”
But Aprilia Racing CEO has added his own thoughts, saying: “Obviously, I feel s**t. But I think from today onwards, it's time to push with what we have. So looking forward to see Marco [Bezzecchi] doing the great job that he already did in testing and also to see Sava keep developing the bike.”
“For sure he [Martin] won't race also in Argentina,” Rivola confirmed. “The situation of the left hand is not good at the moment. According to Doctor Mir, the surgery was quite good. So we are positive. But at the moment we don't even have to think about when he will be back.”
Rivola concluded by saying: “He will only come back when he’s really fit. We don't want to risk his condition at all. So I prefer to look at this new era of Aprilia, with these two new riders in a long-term rather than short term vision.”
