Honda hit the headlines at EICMA last year for all the right reasons, after it revealed a wild V3 engine platform

V3 engine configurations don’t come around very often, meaning when Honda, the perennial ‘safe bet’ bike maker, unveiled a V3 boosted by an electronically operated compressor, the world understandably took notice.

But this wasn’t some trick marketing ploy designed to get likes, clicks and shares. According to Honda, it is the real deal. A working, tested, and developed engine, ready to power a new era of machines from the Japanese automotive giant.

Indeed, while we know what the engine looks like, and have a vague idea of how it works, we don’t yet know the power or torque the engine could produce, and more importantly than that, we don’t yet know what type of bike(s) the motor could fall in to.

Thankfully for us, there are some clever people out there who have enough imagination, skill, and a powerful enough laptop, to help fuel our curiosity. One such person goes by the name of Muzza.nz on Instagram. They have a talent for taking a brand's existing bike, chopping it up pixel by pixel, and then recreating it in a totally different form. And they are pretty good at it too, with previous creations including a Triumph Tiger 900 SM.

The latest bike to roll off Muzza’s virtual production line though is the one you can see here, and it’s a theoretical take on how Honda’s V3 compressor could shape up. And if you’re wondering why they have reimagined the engine and swingarm as a supermoto, well, why not! But it’s also worth noting that this visual artist has a particular fetish for all things supermoto.

And if you are sitting there reading this thinking “no chance!”, not so fast. The timing for a bike like this could be just right. We’ve already seen (and ridden) Ducati’s wonderfully naughty Hypermotard 698 Mono, and Suzuki has just relaunched a lightly updated version of its own supermoto in the form of the new DR-Z4SM. Could Honda join them in a year or two with its own V3-powered fun bike?
