BMW has previewed a new member of the GS family in the shape of a F450, which features the same colourway as the R1300 GS model.

While the bike is much smaller compared to the R1300 GS, similarities in the aesthetics of the bike are clear for all to see and that starts with the grip protectors. Given its sporty, yet off-road style, does the F450 GS need them? Probably not, but we’re not complaining as it adds a nice touch to the bike.

Again, like the big-bodied R1300 GS, it gets an Akrapovic exhaust as standard which is never something to complain about, but while details about the bike which should arrive on the market at some stage in 2025, we do know a few key bits about it.

Firstly, the bike will use a 450cc twin-cylinder power unit that punches out a claimed 48bhp via its six-speed gearbox. It’s also set to consist of a tubular steel trellis chassis and will run enduro-spec inverted forks and shocks.

Mission control will come via the 6.5-inch TFT display, but it’s unclear what rider aids will be forthcoming as a result. A production-ready version of this bike could be set to land this time next year at EICMA, so until then details of the bike could be scarce although we’ll bring you any updates we get our mitts on.

Where the bike is expected to fit in within BMW’s adventure range is between the BMW G310 GS and F800/900. The G310 has an RRP of £5,890 while the F900 and F800 cost £11,995 and £9,995 so we would expect the F450 GS to fit in somewhere around the £7K range. The bike will also be A2-licence friendly.

With details about the bike limited at this stage, this is what BMW has said about the F450 GS concept: "What was particularly important to us in the development of the new BMW Concept F450 GS was to achieve the best handling for this segment and combine it with strong performance and optimal accessibility. The riding pleasure on-road and off-road is a top priority for this A2 BMW GS," says Sepp Mächler, Product Manager.
