F1 Manufacturer Joins MotoGP Paddock as Sponsor
French car brand Alpine is venturing into MotoGP for the first time in its history as it agrees to sponsor Pramac Yamaha
Two seasons ago Pramac won the team’s championship before going on to claim the riders’ title with Jorge Martin in 2024, but according to Motorsport.com the new Yamaha outfit has landed itself a new long-term deal with Alpine, although Prima will remain the title sponsor.
Pramac confirmed last month that Italian company Prima would remain the title sponsor until 2027, but that hasn’t stopped Alpine from getting in the mix, as the two brands will share the spotlight aboard the Pramac Yamaha bikes in 2025.
Renault’s sports car project is led by Alpine which races as a Formula 1 and Endurance racing team in the Hypercar segment.
For Pramac, the agreement with Alpine is a first between the two, although it marks a continuation of Pramac’s ties with F1 as it carried the four-wheeled championship’s official logo in 2021. The collaboration was a result of shared interest and a close relationship between Pramac boss Paolo Campinoti and F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, drawing more interest to both championships in the process.
Campinoti is believed to also have a strong relationship with Renault’s Luca de Meo, hence why the two sides have agreed to this new deal.
Pramac enjoyed huge success during its long and fruitful partnership with Ducati, and despite the Desmosedici GP bike clearly being the go-to machine at the moment in Grand Prix racing, that didn’t stop Pramac from jumping ship to Yamaha.
Jack Miller and Miguel Oliviera, both of whom are new to Yamaha, will form an experienced duo to back up factory riders Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins in 2025.
It is expected that Pramac will showcase the livery of its new Yamaha M1s at the official pre-season test at Sepang in February. The reason for that is because championship promoter Dorna has organised its official 2025 photo session at the same track in Malaysia just two days before the test begins.
