Armed raiders arrested and motorcycles recovered after M62 chase
Two armed motorcycle thieves have been arrested after being chased down the M62 motorway
TWO men were arrested last week in connection with an aggravated at an address on Byrom Street, Blackburn. The armed raiders forced entry to an address, making off a number of motorcycles, quad bikes, and riding kit.

The men, ages 19 and 20, were pursued by the Police helicopter along the M62 motorway, before the two suspects decamped, and made off across a live railway line. The police continued to give chase from the air though, later catching up with and arresting the pair on suspicion of aggravated burglary, and railway trespass,
The 20-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified.
Two quad bikes, a scrambler and an amount of motorcycle riding equipment was recovered from the dumped van.

Speaking of the arrests, Inspector Carl McNulty from the Roads Policing Unit said:
“Our response to the incident this morning is an excellent example of how we at Merseyside Police work together with other forces to tackle offenders who are prepared to cross borders to commit crime.
“I’d like to thank all officers from Lancashire Police, Cheshire Police and the British Transport Police who were involved in successfully apprehending the suspects.
“I hope that this sends a message to would-be offenders that if you commit crime and attempt to use the motorway network to get away, we will find you and bring you to justice.”
