National Superstock 1000 rider Ben Godfrey has died after being involved in an accident while taking part in a track day at Donington Park.

The 25-year old was riding in a No Limits track day at the Leicestershire circuit during the second outing in the advanced group when he collided with another rider on the run into Redgate.

Unfortunately, Godfrey sustained serious injuries in the incident and despite medical assistance he succumbed to his injuries a short time afterwards.

“I am so desperately sad that Ben died from the injuries he sustained. Ben really was a fantastic young man and friends with so many people in the paddock, he was always smiling and had time for everyone,” No Limits director Mark Neate said in a statement.

“He was very excited for the start of the season and had taken part in many trackdays in the last month. Our thoughts are with his family, his partner Jordan and his team-mates and friends.”

In 2019 Godfrey competed in the National Superstock 1000 with the Jones Dorling Racing team, finishing 15th in the overall standings with a best result of fourth position during the second race at Brands Hatch.

He also participated in the Endurance World Championship Bol d’Or 24-hour and the Malaysian 8 Hours..

For 2020 Godfrey had switched to the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup with the Art of Racing team, which is due to get underway in August following the delays brought on by the coornavirus

Visordown would like to extend our sincerest condolences to Ben’s family and friends at this difficult time.
