Crate-fresh Triumph T100 Paul Smith special edition emerges
Crated and ready to recommission, this Triumph T100 Paul Smith edition is begging to be brought back to life
WHEN we normally feature time warp bikes that have been shrouded in a crate forever, they are usually a bit more exotic than this. That said, this Triumph Bonneville T100 Paul Smith edition is certainly rare, albeit not some drool-worthy homologation special.
The Paul Smith ‘Multi-Union’ and ‘Live Fast’ limited edition bikes were some of the earliest brand collaborations that Triumph worked on. It was the beginning of a theme for the Hinkley-based bike maker, which has gone on to team up with Breitling, Gibson guitars, and Barbour International.
Released in 2006, the bikes were originally built to adorn Paul Smith stores, although the public response to them was so strong, Triumph decided to make 50 examples of each bike. The bike is designed by the fashion brand, and features instantly recognisable paint, with bold, pastel colours, and clearly styled decals on the airbox cover. The paint was all done by hand and a faux crocodile skin seat was included with the bike. The bikes coincided with the launch of a co-branded and Paul Smith designed clothing range and accessory range.

How the bike could look if released from the crate
This particular example has been sealed away since it was produced in 2006, and documents with the machine confirm it is number 20 in the run of 50 machines. It is as it rolled off the production line, zero road miles, mostly wrapped in protective plastic, and still wearing its production tags hanging from the handlebars.
When released, the Paul Smith Bonneville T100s were selling for around £11,000 and this one is up for sale on a popular US auction site for $7,400! There are only a few hours left to bid though, and if you are reading this late on December 1st 2022, you’ve probably already missed the boat!
