There aren’t many companies in the world that can claim its signature colour is so recognisable so as to be almost entirely synonymous with that brand, but if you see a particular shade of green flashing past you then you are almost certainly being overtaken by a Kawasaki.

While today’s lean, mean ‘Team Green’ machine is dressed in a darker, pearlier shade on a black background, it is the lime hues dated from the 90s that Kawasaki is still best known for today.

It is a look that turned heads recently when Kawasaki threw back a few decades during the 2021 Argentinian WorldSBK round with Jonathan Rea campaigning a one-off livery, complete with solid blue and white lettering that gave us all of the retro feels.

However, Kawasaki hasn’t ‘always’ found it easy being green and if we’re being honest, we’re torn for a favourite between that and its other iconic finish, the black and orange colours most instantly imagined around the brilliant 1984 GPz900R, a legend immortalised by its use in the 1986 Top Gun blockbuster.

It was a look recreated on the WorldSBK-spec Kawasaki ZX-10RR in Argentina too, with Rea’s team-mate Alex Lowes looking resplendently 80s around the San Juan Villicum circuit himself.

While we’re personally hankering for a proper limited edition ZX-10R run from Kawasaki of both liveries, in the meantime it has created two road-legal ZX-10RRs adorned with a livery each to go up for auction on eBay (CLICK HERE).

For that not insignificant amount of wonga, Kawasaki are at least throwing in special features to seal the deal, including matching leathers RST leathers, a trip to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya - where the machine will be presented to you on the grid as part of a VIP experience - before you blast off for 30mins around the Spanish venue with Mr Rea or Mr Lowes as your tutor.

If you’re tempted, you don’t have long to bid - the auction closes on 1 March 2022.
