Honda India to launch VFR1000 in 2010
Bigger capacity VFR in the pipeline along with other two-wheelers
HONDA INDIA is reported to have said that it will be launching a 1000cc version of its VFR800 motorcycle in the country in 2010 - the first admission by the company that the bigger-capacity VFR is on the way.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) is planning to launch the VFR800 in India by the end of this financial year. The senior executive of the Honda India confirmed the launch while unveiling the new Honda CBF Stunner model.
HMSI will import the 800cc bike from the parent company, Honda Japan. It is expected that Honda will launch other bikes or scooters later this year. HMSI Sales and Marketing head N.K Rattan said: “It is too early to disclose if the other two-wheeler will be a scooter or a bike.
“When we launch bikes in India, we started with smaller engine sizes to cater to the masses. Now we are planning to launch a new bike and by the end of this year when Honda launches the new 800cc bike for the Indian market.”
According to Indian journalists, they have been told that HMSI is planning to launch the 1000cc variant of the VFR by 2010. HMSI sold 907,000 bikes in the financial year 2007-08 which is 27% up on the 715,000 units sold in 2006-07.
