TRIUMPH is compensating Street Triple owners in India after tests showed the middleweight naked sold there made 80hp instead of the claimed 106hp.

The British firm's Indian website and brochure said the bike made the same power as the European version but firm was selling the Brazilian-spec model, detuned to cope better with low-quality fuel.

Owners are being offered either the equivalent to £1,000 cash compensation or £1,500 worth of accessories.

However, new customers still have to pay the full price of the model now the power claims have been amended.
