Win a superbike at Focused Events' new endurance event
Brand new BMW S1000RR, Kawasaki ZX-10R or Yamaha R1 on offer in three-round series
GOT A couple of mates who are handy at a trackday? Fancy a three-round Endurance race-type gig in Spain over the winter, with huge prizes? Then the new Focused Events Dunlop RST Sunshine Tour series could be just the thing for you.
Organised by Focused Events, and only open to non-professional riders, the series kicks off at Andalucía Circuit on November 15-18th 2018, with further rounds at Almeria Circuit on 25-28thFebruary 2019 and Circuit Espana on March 28-31st2019.
There are three classes in the series for Supersports (up to 636cc fours, 899cc twins, 700cc triples), Superbike (750-1000cc fours, 1300cc twins, 1300cc V-fours) and Minitwins (twins up to 700cc). All machines must be homologated and a ‘mainstream design'. We predict a Ducati Panigale V4S might well be the weapon of choice in the superbike class…
The Supersport and Superbike races will be six-hour endurance events, while the Minitwins will be five hours long. The exception is at the massive 9.2km Espana circuit, where the races will be eight and six hours. Erk!
The prize package is pretty impressive. The winning team in each class in the whole series gets a choice of a brand new Yamaha R1, Kawasaki ZX-10R or a BMW S1000RR, as well as RST leathers boots and gloves and a top-spec Arai helmet. There are cash prizes for each race - €500, €300 and €200 for first, second and third respectively.
There will also be three amazing, ‘money can’t buy’ prizes: two days as an official Dunlop test rider, at their French test track, a hospitality guest spot with Dunlop at the 2019 TT for a main race day, and a guest day with Dunlop at a European round of the 2019 MotoGP season.
Each team needs a minimum of two riders, maximum of three, and each team can enter a maximum of three machines. Entry fee for the team is €1099 for class 1 and 2 (these will be 4 day events). Entry for the team for class 3 is €995. All entries will receive a free set of Dunlop tyres of their championship choice (information of tyre choice to follow, but will be slicks or treads).
Additional team bikes entered will be €195 each and again will receive a free set of Dunlop tyres each. Three Tyre fitters will be available and all tyres will be fitted free. Only Dunlop tyres are allowed on the championship, and more detail will be in the regulations being released on the Focused Events website.
This Series is open to all European teams and riders, except riders or teams that are 'of a professional level'. Entries will be limited for each round, and open in 2 weeks through the FE website.
