A Giacomo Agostini Racing Documentary is Coming Soon

A new motorcycle documentary called 'Ago' is coming soon and it's based on the legendary career of the 15-time world champion Giacomo Agostini.

The event is being organised by MV Agusta, with a preview of the documentary planned for March 6 in Varese, Italy. The documentary looks back at Agostini’s illustrious Grand Prix career, with the evening also paying homage to the long-standing and successful partnership between Ago and the Italian manufacturer.

Agostini, who will be in Verse for the premier of the film, is the most successful rider ever in the World Championship, winning 15 titles across the 350 and 500cc classes, claiming 123 victories and 10 Tourist Trophy wins at the Isle of Man TT.

The 82-year-old won most of his races riding MV Agusta machinery, which is why the Italian manufacturer is producing this documentary as it nears its own 80th anniversary.

Four-wheel documentaries and films have been a huge success, especially of late with Drive to Survive being the best of the lot, while more nostalgic films like Rush and Ford vs Ferrari have also hit the spot. But when it comes to two-wheel docs, they are few and far between, while also being somewhat underwhelming at times.

One of those that, in my opinion, falls into that category, was the MotoGP Unlimited documentary from Amazon, which aired a few years ago. It turned out to be lacklustre at best. With Agostini’s rich history in the sport, as well as MV Agusta’s iconic presence and once-legendary bikes, we can only hope this one delivers.

The documentary ‘Ago’ will go behind the numbers and titles that make Agostini who he is today and tell the story of how the Italian was the face of his era of motorcycle racing. The documentary will be airing at Cinemas on March 10.
