H&H successfully sold more than two hundred classic bikes and scooters during an auction last week at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull.

As part of the mass auction, H&H Classics ended the event with a sales rate of 95 per cent for classic motorcycles and 78 per cent for vintage scooters, leading to a total of £1.53 million raised in combined sales.

Within that were some very impressive sales as the classic 1930 Brough Superior SS100 Works MCC Edinburgh Trial entry, a bike that was previously ridden by marque founder George Brough, went for a massive six-figure sum of £241,500.

That meant the bike went for £41,500 above its lower estimate and it was the highest-selling motorcycle of the auction. Another huge seller was a restored 1955 Vincent Series C Black Shadow motorcycle, which went to the highest bidder for £35,075.

While a lot more modern than some of the historic and vintage motorcycles and scooters that were available, some very special 1990s bikes were on show as a 1998 Ducati 748 SPS in bright yellow went for £7,935.

A 1991 Yamaha RD350L fully-faired sportbike went for £6,900 while there was a very special 1981 Ducati 900 MHR Mike Hailwood replica bike that sold for £10,062 during the mass auction.

Mike Davis, motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: “We’ve had an incredible start to 2025 with our first auction which was full of collectable classic motorcycles and vintage scooters.

“The high sales rate and packed auction hall clearly shows there’s a strong appetite for the right bikes, including those commanding a six-figure sum.”
