Cagiva could return as off-road brand

THE Cagiva marque could be revived with a new adventure bike, MV Agusta Vice President Giorgio Girelli has hinted in an interview.

Talking to Varese News, Girelli said Cagiva could be revived as an off-road brand, while MV itself is primarily seen as a high-performance on-road marque.

He said it was one of several possible avenues for the revival of Cagiva which had not been ruled out.

Since last year MV Agusta has been 25% owned by Mercedes-AMG.

Visordown revealed as long ago as 2011 that MV had trademarked the name ‘Elephant’, a possible clue of plans for a new version of the V-twin Cagiva Elefant produced in the 1990s in 750 and 900 guise.
