After riding Honda’s compact adventurer at the launch in Tenerife, it comes as no surprise that the CB500X has risen to the top and achieved the coveted Auto Trader A2 bike award.

The CB500X is a great all-rounder and is able to effortlessly morph between short-hop commuter and weekend tourer depending on how adventurous you’re feeling.

Taking design inspiration from Honda’s flagship Adventure model, the CRF1000L Africa Twin, the new 2019 CB500X boasts a more chiselled figure than its predecessor, with its adventure styling reflected in the riding experience thanks to upgrades to the chassis (e.g. longer suspension travel) and fueling changes to its silky smooth parallel-twin motor.

With the Awards in their sixth year and over 30 models being judged by a panel of industry specialists, competition is fierce. The judges consider reliability, running costs, appearance, practicality, performance and technical advancements. And the CB500X was selected as the winner.

Neil Fletcher, Head of Honda UK Motorcycles said: “We’re delighted to see the CB500X extend Honda’s winning streak at the Auto Trader Bike Awards into 2019, after walking away with prizes for the Gold Wing and X-ADV last year. At Honda we understand the importance of creating fun-focused and adaptable A2 models - the CB500X demonstrates those qualities brilliantly.”

Speaking on the winning bike, guest judge, Jon Quirk said, “upgrades to the styling, engine and chassis in the 2019 CB500X have made the might of Honda’s engineering prowess easy to admire, but even easier to live with. This all-rounder is as effortless to ride as it is desirable to own.”
