MAG launches petrol engine survey for motorcyclists

THE Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) has launched a survey of UK motorcyclists asking for their views on the use of petrol-powered motorcycles.
2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S Review
The poll is in reaction to the UK Governments phasing out of petrol-powered cars and vans, due to take place in 2030. While there has been no explicit confirmation that motorcycles are included in the ban, it’s thought it will come into place soon after 2030.
MAG is taking this opportunity to poll the British motorcycle riding public as a method of speaking up for our friend the internal combustion engine. The big question is, will anyone listen? Let’s face it, none of us got into motorcycles because we love the sound of an electric motorcycle full chat down a straight, did we? The trouble for us is that there simply aren’t enough of our own kind, wafting around the halls of power.
MAG’s Chair, Selina Lavender, says:
“It is important to acknowledge that change is coming and as an organisation we are not standing in the way of progress. If you want to ride an electric motorcycle or scooter, or indeed have already made the change, then there is a place in MAG for you. However, at this time the options don’t make sense to a great many riders. They are fearful of being forced off the bikes they cherish and see them potentially being demoted from a transport choice to a museum exhibit.”
The survey is open to members and non-members of MAG alike, meaning the link can be shared with family and friends, helping to add weight to the argument for the internal combustion engine.
