TVS Enters Europe Via Italy With Petrol and Electric Motorcycles
The Indian brand is one of the biggest in the two-wheeled world, and now TVS has its sights set on Europe
TVS Motors has announced the opening of a new Italian operation, bringing with it a range of petrol and electrically powered motorcycles and scooters.
The new operation, TVS Motor Italia, is being spearheaded by its director, Dr. Giovanni Notarbartolo di Furnari, who is formerly the Managing Director of Peugeot Motorcycles Italia, and the quirky four-wheeled leaning scooter maker Qooder South Africa, among others.
Kickstarting the project is a ready-made range of bikes, including the Apache 310 RTR and RR, the Ronin 250, and the NTorq mid-range scooter. On the electric side, it is also bringing its iQube, the connected ‘X’ and its range of E-bikes to the region. Given Italy’s love of lightweight scooters and city bikes, it’s likely that the bikes at the bottom of the range will be bolstering much of the new effort.
Speaking about the move, Dr di Furnari, said:
"In establishing a branch office and by offering a broad suite of products, both thermic and electric, TVS Motor has underlined its confidence and long term strategy for the Italian market. Our focus will be on two fundamental pillars: product quality and customer satisfaction. It is with a lot of pride that I am undertaking this amazing new adventure with one of the top five two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.”
While the press release doesn’t make any mention of further expansion in the European region, it is widely expected that it will be launched in other regions soon. It was only last year that Visordown was testing the Apache 310 RTR out in Thailand, and the reason for that trip was an expected move into the UK market.
