Limited Edition BMW R12 Julie Wood Arrives, But There’s a Catch
BMW France is celebrating the return of its Julie Wood comic series with a custom BMW R12, but what’s the catch?
A special limited edition BMW R12 full of glitz and glamour is being produced in France as a nod to its popular Michel Vaillant comic book series, however, it won’t be available in the UK.
A comic book series started by Jean Graton decades ago, the Michel Vaillant series is a French car racing comic book that later unveiled a character by the name Julie Wood, an American who would join the series in volume eight.
BMW has already created a limited edition version of its R nine T model, which was named “Vaillante” and produced in just 13 units for the seventh volume of the comic book series. But with a new season to come, BMW has decided to add to its limited edition series in honour of the comic book, this time with a Julie Wood-inspired bike that features a glittery silver, red and blue colour scheme.
The production of this bike has extended to 15 units, all of which will be solely available in France for €21,400 (£17,850), but buyers won’t just be getting a fancy paint scheme as the limited edition bike features a passenger kit, custom exhaust, the Option 719 Classic black wheels at the front and rear, a complementary analogue rev counter, a quickshifter, heated grips, cruise control, hill start control, alarm, high beams and RDC tyre pressure sensor.
The bike has already seen the light of day after being presented at the Retromobile Show, while it will also be present on the BMW Motorrad stand at the Lyon two-Wheel Show.
BMW R12s have proven to be a happy hunting ground when it comes to limited edition models. Just ask BMW, as the German brand recently introduced its own limited edition Cafe Racer S model based on the 1970 R90 S, which is available for UK customers to buy this month.
