Michael Rutter-Managed BSB Team Finds Title Sponsor for 2025
Bathams Racing will step up to BSB in 2025 under the stewardship of Michael Rutter, and it will do so with a new title sponsor
Michael Rutter will be at the helm of Bathams Racing for the 2025 BSB season, but it won’t be called that as AJN Steelstock has jumped on board to become the title sponsor, leading to a team name change.
The team will race under the name Bathams AJN Racing Team, and Rutter’s team has become the second outfit to receive sponsorship from AJN Steelstock after FS-3 Kawasaki confirmed its partnership with them earlier this month.
Bathams has traditionally used BMW machinery and if it does so again in 2025 then the BSB season will be contested aboard M1000 RR motorcycles, however, it’s not been confirmed what bikes the team will run.
Rutter will lead the team in the role of team manager after being sponsored by Bathams Racing for much of his road racing career. It’s a partnership that started in 2009 before the creation of the team in 2018.
Speaking to BritishSuperbike, Rutter said: “If you had told me back in 2018 that our little race team would be entering the BSB championship next year, I’d never have believed you.
“Since Matt and Tim Batham had the idea of forming a race team with me, we’ve always tried to be as competitive as we could at whatever discipline or class of motorcycle racing we’ve entered. Just like any rider who competes in our sport, I believe that teams and sponsors also harbour ambitions to compete at the highest level.
“This is by far the biggest challenge that we’ve taken on. However, it’s also true that the buzz which comes from rising to that challenge is the thing that makes motorcycle racing so fantastic and addictive.
“I really must pay a big tribute to Bathams Ales for supporting me personally since 2009, then with the creation of the team in 2018, and now for this phase of the team’s journey, by sharing the title sponsorship with AJN Steelstock. As you can imagine, we’re already flat-out putting plans into place so that by the time we get to the first test in April, we’ll be ready to get stuck in.”
