YAMAHA AND ÖHLINS have joined forces to create two special edition sportsbikes.

Project 13S and Project 14B may sound like medical experiments but they're the catchy names Yamaha originally assigned to the standard YZF-R1 and YZF-R6 before they were released.

Project 14B is one of Yamaha’s 2010 YZF-R1’s and showcases Öhlins suspension with the original equipment replaced with an Öhlins TTX 36 shock absorber and a set of Road and Track forks, not to mention an Akrapovic system and fresh paint job. Retailing at £2012.27 + VAT for the forks and £969.27 + VAT for the shock absorber, both units are fully adjustable and have all of the build quality and performance that has helped Öhlins become the premium brand when it comes to road and track suspension.

Project 13S is Yamaha’s 2010 YZF-R6, the same model that Britain’s Cal Crutchlow took the 2009 World Supersport title on. Also using an Öhlins TTX 36 shock absorber, Project 13S utilises the bike’s original forks but enhances their performance by integrating an Öhlins NIX 30mm cartridge kit. Retailing at £832.00 + VAT this is the kit of choice for many on both the Supersport and Superstock grids around the World.

Both bikes, as well a Yamaha XJ6 with a newly launched Öhlins shock designed specifically for naked middleweight bikes, can be seen at Yamaha UK’s stand (Hall 3, R230) at the Carole Nash Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham. Let's not forget the diddy little YZF-R125 either, although it's not clear whether that's going to be on show at the NEC.
