30th anniversary Suzuki GSX-R1000 to cost £10,899
GSX-R1000 in 1985 colours to cost £300 more than base edition - and come with Yoshimura exhaust
AN anniversary edition of the GSX-R1000 in the colours of the legendary original 1985 GSX-R750 will go on sale from November at an anticipated £10,899, Suzuki has said.
The anniversary GSX-R1000 model, which bears the same nostalgia inducing blue stripes on white as the classic slab-sided 750, was unveiled at the Sachsenring circuit on Thursday ahead of the German MotoGP.
A similar paint scheme debuted on the GSX-RR MotoGP machines raced by Aleix Espargarò and Maverick Viñales on Sunday.
A Suzuki spokesman said that the anniversary GSX-R1000 was due to arrive in UK dealerships by November and, promisingly, added: ‘I don’t expect there to be any price difference between it and the MotoGP-replica model.’
The MotoGP-replica GSX-R1000, clad in the usual colours of GSX-RR race bike, starts from £10,899 plus on the road charges, rising to £11,299 with ABS. The base edition of the GSX-R1000 costs £10,599 plus OTR charges.
Suzuki’s spokesman said that the anniversary model was also likely to be sold in the UK with the same special equipment as the MotoGP-rep model as standard. That means it will come with a clear bubble screen, a Yoshirmura silencer and an anodised timing plug, oil filler plug, bar-end weights, top yoke nut and paddock-stand bobbins.
