Benelli TRK 800 moving closer to production

The QianJiang SRB 750 appears in production ready form to give a very good clue as to what we can expect from the Benelli TRK 800

You’ll need to squint a bit but this is a good look at the new Benelli TRK 800 middleweight adventure bike being put through its paces, albeit in QianJiang Motor SRB 750 specification.

The (grainy) images you see here are the new QJ SRB 750 developed by the Chinese firm that owns Italian-marque Benelli and they provide a very good clue of what we can expect when the European-developed version makes its debut later in the year.

While Benelli is at pains to point out that its models are different to those of QJ, it is known there is a 750cc version of its successful TRK adventure bike on the way with this SRB 750 set to be almost identical under the skin.

While the Benelli TRK 502 remains a rare sight on UK roads, it is anything but in Italy where it is regularly inside the top five best-selling models in its homeland.

As such, a larger, more powerful version was always expected and this QJ SRB 750 – which was spotted in patent imagery in June – is a clear indication that it is on its way potentially very soon.

That’s not to say they will be identical with the TRK 502’s more angular finish and signature traits set to replace the SRB’s more rounded appearance, but under the skin the engine – which can be found in the Leoncino 800 – will be more familiar. As such, expect the 754cc liquid-cooled four-stroke inline four engine to produce around 77bhp – potentially more if it has been tuned.

While a launch date would have presumably coincided with the now cancelled EICMA show in October, the Benelli TRK 800 is expected to make its official bow around then.
