The CFMoto 675SR-R is the Daytona R You Wish Triumph Would Make

The Chinese company has given a fresh look at its triple-powered supersport challenger

When it turned out the new Triumph Daytona 660 wasn’t quite the reborn 675 some were hoping for, there was much in the way of moaning on social media. Often from people we assume probably wouldn’t have bought a reborn 675 anyway. But, if you really want such a thing, there’s a solution from China - the CF Moto 675SR-R.

It’s a bike with been drip-fed information about for a little while now (recently an Aspar special edition was rolled out), and sure enough, the latest update from the company involves…some pictures posted on Facebook.

The snaps show a supersports bike that isn’t exactly classically pretty like the dainty Daytona 675 and 675 R, but it’s certainly a bike that exudes purpose with what CFMoto refers to as an “iconic L-shaped” LED front light which has morphed into “a more mature and aggressive signature”. Keeping with the times, it also features winglets on the fairings.

The entry-level 675SR (note the lack of extra ‘R’ there) does without the winglets, but both bikes get a cooling shroud for the J.Juan front brakes.

Underneath all the bodywork, you’ll find CFMoto’s new 674cc inline-three. Previously, we’d been promised over 100bhp, but type approval documents dug up by CycleWorld suggest the SR will make 94bhp, which just so happens to be the limit for A2 license-friendly power restriction. It’s unclear if the SR-R will develop more.

The cylinder bore of 72mm matches that of CFMoto’s 450 parallel twin, giving credence to theories of both engines being part of a modular family. We’d be surprised if this wasn’t the case, as making several engines from one platform is a good way of trimming development costs.

As for further details about the 675SR and 675SR-R, including UK availability, we’ll have to keep waiting. “Stay tuned to find out more about the new flagship model of the SR family,” is how the Facebook post signs off. Watch this space.
