Ducati ‘2 for 1’ as Ducati Streetfighter V2 and Multistrada Pikes Peak spied

The countdown is ticking for the return to Milan and the EICMA motorcycle show on 25-28 November, which means Ducati is busily readying the models it plans to show at the annual extravaganza.

The Italian firm never misses an opportunity to steal the show to such an extent that it holds its own World Premiere event in the days leading up to the public show, grabbing the limelight with its own streamed event before punters can get their mitts on some fresh machinery.

For the time being Ducati has kept its future plans relatively close to its chest, at least compared to 2019 when the Streetfighter V4 vied for ‘Best in Show’ award, with no firm word on what will be revealed come November.

Well, word on the street for a few weeks is that the Streetfighter will again be the model in focus, with potentially two new variants being launched to join the standard - but bonkers - V4.

First up is likely to be a new Streetfighter V2 using the 955cc Superquadro twin-cylinder that currently resides in the Panigale V2, which should produce power in the region of 155hp and be more reasonably priced than the current £18,005 being asked for the 208hp V4.

While the image here isn’t exactly definitive of the model and what it will look like - though expect it to look almost identical to its V4 brother - but the model blocking it from view also happens to be brand new: The Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak.

The first extension to come on the new V4 line of Ducati’s adventure tourer, the Pikes Peak will celebrate the firm’s success on the American hillclimb event, which recently confirmed would be excluding motorcycles going forward.

The decision was made in part over concerns about safety after the death of Carlin Dunne, who died in an accident in 2019 while attempting to break a course record riding a pre-launch Ducati Streetfighter V4 prototype.

The Pikes Peak is likely to be a more sporting themed version of the Multistrada, albeit with the focus more on cosmetic accessories - such as Akrapovic silencer and a liberal use of carbonfiber.As for the second Streetfighter model we alluded to, expect to see a Sports Production (SP) version of the naked also make its bow in Milan.
