Ducati Diavel S (2019) first look

Visrodown’s Harry McKenzie is in Marbella for the launch of Ducati’s new Diavel. Here’s what we know so far.

Ducati Diavel S (2019) first look

SINCE its launch in 2010, Ducati’s Diavel has been a genre spanning machine; is it a cruiser, sports cruiser or tourer… In reality, any of the above could be true and the 2019 machine looks like it might have raised the bar even higher again.

The addition of the 1262cc Testastretta engine from the XDiavel and 1260 Multistrada, brings a tad more power (157bhp claimed) than the old 1200cc model and a dollop of torque too (95ft-lb) not that the latter is needed! Along with the engine upgrade, the bike inherits the trick TFT dash of the XDiavel, riding modes and Ducati’s DMS multimedia system.

The ‘S’ is also blessed with the DQS (Ducati Quickshifter System), fully adjustable 48mm Öhlins forks and rear shock, Brembo M50 Callipers and sexy looking 10-spoke wheels. The base Diavel can be spec’d to match but in truth – if you’re adding more than one of the above, you’re probably better off stumping up for the ‘S’ model anyway.
