Hardcore KTM 1290 Super Duke RR rumoured to be incoming
A new more hardcore version of the KTM 1290 Super Duke R is rumoured to be arriving in 2021
RUMOURS are beginning to swirl regarding Austria’s biggest manufacturer and the all-conquering KTM 1290 Super Duke R.
The bike is being touted as a limited edition model, with less than 500 units being made available and trick equipment everywhere! Obviously, there will be carbon fibre aplenty, with reports also suggesting the machine will feature lighter levers and pegs, an Akrapovič system, tail tidy, carbon side covered, and air ducts.

Motociclismo is reporting that the Beast RR (is it has been unofficially named) will be tipping the scales a full 9kg lighter than the stock bike.
Now, we have to stress, this is an unconfirmed whisper that’s reported to have originated from within KTM. Until we get the official word from KTM we will have to take it ‘just a rumour’. Although in the motorcycle industry, there is generally no smoke without fire. And we have to remember that KTM is a company that is prone to being a bit leaky when it comes to information and new bikes… take from that what you will!
With the reduction in weight and increase in spec, it’s not hard to imagine the SD RR as being an ideal track day weapon, the current 1290 Super Duke is already a very handy machine – just take a look at the latest model launch from Portimao! But it does beg the question, why don’t KTM just make what the public wants and build a sports bike version of it, please!
