Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Highway King announced for Icons Collection
A new addition to the Harley-Davidson Icons Motorcycle Collection has arrived in the form of the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Highway King.
The new Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Highway King is the newest addition to Harley’s 2023 roster, and to its Icons Motorcycle Collection.
It was the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide that kicked off the Icons Motorcycle Collection back in 2021 with the Electra Glide Revival. That was a modernised recreation of the 1969 Electra Glide, while the new Highway King version focuses more on long-distance cruising.
The Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Highway King is a one-time release and in a limited number of units, 1,750 to be exact. It takes inspiration from the 1968 FLH Electra Glide, and, not dissimilarly to the aforementioned Revival, “merges classic styling with modern comfort and performance,” Harley-Davidson says.
As you might expect, the Electra Glide Highway King comes with Harley’s Milwaukee-Eight 114 Engine, which means 93 horsepower and 158Nm, with that peak torque produced way down the rev range at 3,250rpm.
Such statistics show the relaxed kind of attitude with which this motorcycle is intended to be ridden, although with thirst for fuel at a rate of 6.1l per 100km it is a good job the fuel tank is as large as 22.7 litres, meaning the Highway King is good for 372km (231 miles) before needing a refill.
Away from the engine, we find an 890mm seat height, an upright riding position, 120mm of ground clearance, 16-inch Dunlop Harley-Davidson Series whitewall tyres and a total wet weight of 385kg.
There are also 49mm dual bending valve forks, and the rear shock has toolless preload adjustability. The brake discs are fixed, not floating, front and rear, with duals at the front and a single at the rear, while both front and rear brakes make use of four-piston callipers.
A whole host of rider safety enhancements have also been included on the Electra Glide Highway King, including ABS, electronic linked braking (ELB), traction control, drag-torque slip control (DSCS), vehicle hold control (VHC), and cornering enhancements on all of those.
The 2023 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Highway King is available from £32,595 in two colours: “Hi-Fi Magenta and Birch White”, and “Hi-Fi Orange and Birch White”.
