The Honda Africa Twin Adventure Roads Edition is Loaded with Accessories

Honda’s big-bore ADV has spawned a special edition celebrating Adventure Roads, and it adds a load of accessories for a small premium

This year, participants of the Honda Adventure Roads covered 1,700 miles of chunky trails in Morocco, sleeping each night in bivouacs. Depending on what kind of person you are, that might sound like an epic trip or a lot of hard work. If the latter, worry not, as you can channel the Adventure Roads spirit without embarking on any such arduous trip.

For 2024, Honda has revealed the CRF1100L3 Africa Twin Adventure Roads Edition, which takes the Japanese adventure bike (in the tri-colour finish, of course) and decks it out in all manner of accessories.

The UK-exclusive special edition has crash and engine bars, fog lights and radiator guards from the accessories catalogue, along with an individually numbered plaque, Adventure Roads wheel stripes and an Adventure Roads tank logo. All of this makes the bike ready to tackle some really rough stuff, and - most importantly - look rather serious.

Mechanically, everything is the same, meaning you get a 1,084cc liquid-cooled parallel twin with a 270-degree crankshaft for an offset firing order, giving it similar characteristics to the V-twin found in the OG Africa Twin. It’s good for 100bhp at 7,500rpm, a fairly modest figure compared to some rivals, but it’s backed up by a punchy 82.6lb ft of torque at 5,500rpm.

The Adventure Roads Edition is based on the electronic suspension version of the Africa Twin - if you wanted a passive fork/monoshock, you’re out of luck. You do, however, get to choose what kind of gearbox you have in your AR Edition. The manual is £15,699, while the DCT (dual-clutch transmission) is £16,899.

That works out at a premium of £1,000 for each, which, considering all the accessories you’re getting, seems like very good value. If you want one, you’d better get a wriggle on - only 75 are available.
