Honda NT1100 (2022) first impressions video review
The new Honda NT1100 launch on going in Barcelona this week and Alex’ first thoughts have just landed – take a look
THE Honda NT1100 is a bold step from the world’s biggest automotive manufacturer, hinting at a new era of touring where off-road ability makes way for on-road handling and comfort.
Taking the CRF1100L Africa Twin as its base, the 1084cc engine come in two flavours, DCT and manual, and boasts 100bhp and 105Nm (76lb-ft) of torque. The frame is shrouded in a sleek and modern body, with more than a hint of NC750 and X-ADV in there for good measure.
In place of the long-legged suspension of its off-road sibling, the NT1100 features 43mm Showa forks with 150mm of travel, and a pre-load adjustable Showa shock at the rear. With less wheel travel and a sportier stance, the Africa Twin’s towering perch is brought down to a much more accessible 820mm – great news for shorties like me!
The changes don’t stop with the equipment though, Honda has also tweaked the geometry of the new machines. Rake and trail are reduced to 26.5° and 108mm respectively, and its fair to say the tweaks have left a very positive impression on our test rider.
To help make the NT the perfect tourer right out of the crate, Honda has thrown everything they know about long-distance touring at the bike. An adjustable screen comes as standard – something that Alex and his six-foot-plus frame was impressed with. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come as standard, as do heated grips and around 60l pannier space.
