THIS is Kawasaki's first entry into the European scooter market at its official unveiling in Milan today.

The J300 has a 299cc single-cylinder engine delivering 28hp and 21.1lbft of torque through its CVT automatic transmission. It's got a tubular steel frame and a kerb weight of 191kg.

Kawasaki is hoping it will appeal to 'sports-minded riders looking for a daily dose of fun from their commute'.

The firm gave a clear indication today that we should expect more lower-capacity models, saying in a presentation at Milan's EICMA motorcycle show that the Ninja 300 sports bike was 'just the start'.

The J300 comes in black, silver, and black/green, although Kawasaki says that may vary depending on country.
