The Liger X is the first Indian scooter to be equipped with a self-stabilizing system allowing it not to fall.

The Indian company Liger has revealed its new Liger X scooter, two years after they revealed the prototype in 2021. There are two versions of the Liger X machine. The original one named the Liger X and the Liger X+ which has a colour TFT screen as well as a better autonomy with 100 km, rather than the 60km of the standard version.

The speed is the same for both models, of nearly 65 km/h. The Liger X's headling feature is its self-stabilising system which allows it to avoid falling over at low speeds and even while stationary - without putting a foot down.

When it comes the batteries powering the Liger X, it features liquid cooled batteries, with cell balancing that protects thermal run away from occurring. There is also a robust battery management system in place as well to take care of the battery condition. The batteries are also swappable so it is possible to switch the batteries out while one is charging so the Liger X can still be used. The batteries for the Liger X take approximately three hours to charge.

This new technological advancement of self-stabilisation is of interest to many manufacturers who have been working on it. Manufacturers such as Honda have been working on the self-stabilising technology since 2017, and Yamaha has also looked into it.

As yet, the Japanese manufacturers have still not begun production of their two-wheelers with the self-stabilisation technology, which makes Liger Mobility one of the few with this technology in a production model.

The price of the Liger X has been confirmed but the Liger X+ is yet to have its price revealed. The standard Liger X comes at a price of 90,000 Indian Rupees in the Indian market. That equates to around £902 at time of writing (February 2023). The expected release of the Liger X is June in 2023.
