MV Agusta reveals F4 RC at WSBK team launch

MV AGUSTA has just unveiled its new F4 RC WSBK race bike, which will be sold as a 212hp homologation special.

It’s the result of a ‘thorough overhaul’ to the 1000cc four-cylinder F4 according to MV.

It was revealed at the launch of the Italian firm's ‘Reparto Corse’ World Superbike and World Supersport team at Australia’s Phillip Island today.

Frenchman Jules Cluzel and Italian Lorenzo Zanetti will race in WSS on the three-cylinder MV Agusta F3, with new tri-colour livery, while Britain’s Leon Camier will ride the F4 RC.

A release from MV said: ‘This new, ultra-refined, exclusive fireball of a bike, entrusted to the experience of super-fast racer Leon Camier, will be marketed as a limited edition in a dual road/ready to race configuration, so enthusiasts can enjoy unleashing its as-standard 212hp on the track.'

Last week Visordown revealed what now seem more plausible leaked pictures of the homologation special

The pictures were accompanied by information suggesting the bike weighs 175kg dry, with a price in Italy of €36,900 (£27,200).

MV's release went on: ‘The MV Agusta F3 and F4 fairings conceal mechanical and suspension set-up solutions that are in a class of their own when it comes to production bikes: the trellis frame with aluminium plates, the single-sided swing-arm, the removable gearbox and, on the three-cylinder bike, the shell-cast closed-deck crankcase with integral bore liners, the integrated water and oil circuits and titanium valves, radially arranged on the four-cylinder engine.’

Camier said: ‘We've got plenty of work to do, but thanks to the support of a technician as skilled and experienced as Giovanni Sandi, we aim to develop the F4 RC gradually, put it high up in the rankings and, with a bit of luck, on the podium.’
