Netflix of Motorcycles: Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT, Honda NT1100 and Buell returns
That was the week that was, when we had to give the Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT two takes for our opinion and the Honda NT1100 broke cover...
It’s been a typically busy week down at Visordown Towers (well, it was for our motorcycle Video Editor…) as we brought you a first look at some tantalising new metal and gave you our view of one of the year’s biggest launches.
Despite a rather unfortunate incident outside of our control that resulted in Toad’s in-depth piece to camera had to be recorded again, we were eventually able to bring you our view of the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 GT.
The Japanese manufacturer has been steadily updating the motorcycles in the upper end of its range, with the re-branded and repositioned GT now a more convincing alternative to the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX. Check out our verdict take II below... it’s always better second time around anyway!
Hot on the heels of the Suzuki launch, Honda formally revealed its return to the Sports Tourer arena with the unveiling of the NT1100, which will have the aforementioned Japanese rivals well in its sights when it launches, plus the Yamaha Tracer 9.
Those who have watched our video suggest it is rather too inspired by the Honda X-ADV, which seems to be considered both a good and a bad thing… have a watch and decide for yourself.
Honda’s triumvirate of 500cc mid-range models have become firm favourites here at Visordown, offering punchy pace, great value and all the premium engineering quality you’d expect from Honda.
One person here at Visordown (we won’t say who…) called the first generation CBR500R the best motorcycle on the market (FACT!), so we headed off on the North Coast 500 route to find out if the second generation can live up to this bold billing!
It has gone bust twice in the last 12 years but ahead of 2022 all-American brand Buell is bouncing back with fresh investment and fresh plans to take on international rivals, plus old owners Harley-Davidson.
Leading the charge will be an interim updating of the existing 1190 RX - named the Hammerhead - which certainly isn’t re-entering the sportsbike arena quietly. Does it have the specs to worry its European and Japanese rivals?
