New Suzuki V-Strom 250
Suzuki expands range of adventure bikes with new small-capacity V-Strom
THERE HAVE been rumours of a small capacity V-Strom for over a year, and sure enough, Suzuki have revealed its new V-Strom 250 at Eicma.
Based on the Inazuma 250, the Suzuki’s concept for the V-Strom is an ‘adventure bike that is equally adept at daily riding and long touring.’
It’s powered by a 248cc four-stroke liquid-cooled SOHC parallel-twin that makes 24.7hp and 17.25lb/ft torque. Suzuki says the engine is optimized to maximize low- to mid-range power and that will a full tank, it’ll give a range of over 300 miles.
Its touring and adventure credentials are aided by dedicated pannier mounts what looks like a reasonably sized non-adjustable screen, behind which sits an LCD instrument panel .
Styling should see it slot right in with the V-Strom 650 and V-Strom 1000, thanks largely to that front beak. Its round headlight is different to those on its bigger stablemates.
There are no chassis details available yet but Suzuki says the bike provides a comfortable riding position and enables riders to firmly reach the ground with their feet.
It’ll come in three colours – ‘Pearl Nebular Black / Solid Dazzling Cool Yellow’, ‘Metallic Diamond Red’ and ‘Pearl Nebular Black’.
