Track-only Aston Martin AMB 001 Pro hyperbike announced
The Aston Martin Brough Superior AMB 001 Pro boast less weight and more power than the stock machine
ASTON MARTIN and Brough Superior have announced a new version of the track-only hyperbike, as the AMB 001 Pro is announced.
The bike is announced in strictly limited-edition form, with just 88 of the carbon-clad machines said to be going into production. It’ll be replacing the now sold-out stock-spec bike, and boasts more power, less weight, and probably a significantly higher price tag.
Aston Martin is claiming the new machine is inspired by the Valkyrie AMR Pro hypercar, itself a track-only racer, with more in common with a Le Mans racer than a conventional road car. Pushing the envelope, Aston Martin and Brough have squeezed another 25 percent power from the turbo-charged V-twin engine, increasing the peak figure to 225hp. Aston is quick to point out that brings the power-to-weight ratio of the AMB 001 Pro is similar to that of the firm’s own Formula 1 cars.
The power increase comes courtesy of a new CNC-machined, dual-cylinder 997cc engine, which has been fully machined from AL 5000 solid block. The material was chosen as it improves the rigidity of the engine, and is joined by a new cylinder design with wet cylinder liners to help improve cooling.
The bike has also been aerodynamically optimised, with a new front spoiler and side wings, and the front cowl is now fixed to the rest of the bodywork. To keep the rider in the bubble on track, a ‘tunnel effect air blade’ has been designed to deflect air over the rider. The airflow enters through a large intake integrated into the front wing, then passes through the new front cowl, to be deflected through the dynamic windshield.
As for colour schemes, you can have it in any colour, as long as it’s green! Its inspired by the Aston Martin F1 racing machines and includes ‘Photon Lime’ accents on bodywork and tail fin.
Like the previous AMB 001, if you have to ask the price, you probably can’t afford it… With that stock machine coming in at around £100,000, this extra-trick limited edition version is likely to be eye-wateringly expensive.
