Two new Honda concepts
Honda Africa Twin Enduro Sports and CB1100TR concepts make suprise Eicma debuts
HONDA has revealed these two surprise concepts in Milan, called the Africa Twin Enduro Sports (above) and CB1100TR.
The firms says of the former: 'The Africa Twin Enduro Sports concept has been created to expand the Africa Twin family and capture the imagination of customers dreaming of new possibilities for this “go anywhere” adventure machine.
'As such, with the Enduro Sports version, Honda’s R&D designers have pushed the concept of the CRF1000L Africa Twin to new limits, with a vision for even better off-road ability. The base model has been embellished with several lighter weight chassis parts, derived from Honda’s single-cylinder racing CRF models. The overall look and feel is one of lightness with a sporty attitude.'
The concepts were shown at the Eicma motorcycle show, where honda has a habit of revealing future production models as 'concepts'. It's where the firm last showed the City Adventure concept, which is now joining the firm's line-up as the X-ADV. A production version of the Africa Twin Enduro Sports doesn't seem too far-fetched either.
The firms says the CB1100TR was 'created to share the emotion and excitement of USA flat track culture.
'Honda’s Rome-based R&D designers have imagined the CB1100 TR as the ‘King of Urban Flat Track Circuits’, as a counterpoint to the off-road oval circuit look of the traditional flat tracker. While it exudes a pure racing spirit, its design has more of the ‘street’ orientation favoured by European customers.
'The number 58 is used on the CB1100TR to honour the memory of Honda’s beloved MotoGP rider Marco Simoncelli, who passed away five years ago.'
