2021 CB1000R styling

  • Revised headlight design
  • New clear finished sub-frame
  • All-new seven-spoke wheels
  • Revised radiator shrouds and airbox cover

The most noticeable change to the 2021 model is the styling, which Honda is claiming makes the bikes more aggressive than before. The aluminium sub-frame now features a clear finish, a small touch that does seem to lift the overall look of the bike. The radiator shrouds and airbox covers have also been tweaked slightly for the new model.

One of the most distinctive new features of the bike is the new headlight. The new unit has a slanted design to it, with the bottom leading edge of the light protruding slightly. It’s definitely distinctive, with some readers commenting that it was reminiscent of the MV Agusta Brutale 1000. We have a feeling seeing the bike in the flesh with provide a vastly different perspective though.

Another updated item is the wheels, which for 2021 get a visual refresh with new seven-spoke cast aluminium wheels set in a distinctive Y-shape pattern.

Engine

  • Euro5 engine
  • Revised PGM Fi system
  • Lower emissions and improved delivery and response

The CBR1000RR-derived engine of the CB1000R is producing the same 143bhp and 76lb-ft of torque as the previous model although now it gains Euro5 certification. To achieve this, Honda has adjusted the fuel injection settings, something that is also credited with providing the updated model with improved delivery and response.

Equipment

  • 5” TFT dash
  • Honda Smartphone Voice Control
  • On-screen calls, navigation, and music

The big news here is the addition of a TFT dash, superseding the reverse LCD item of the previous generation bike. The new unit is a 5” full colour design, and it brings with it the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system too. That means riders using a Bluetooth headset and smartphone can operate calls, music, and navigation with their voice.

The rider modes, assistance and safety systems on the 2021 bike are all the same as the previous generation machine.

Honda CB1000R Black Edition

  • All-new blacked out and accessorised model
  • Matt and gloss black finishes throughout
  • Flyscreen and quick-shifter fitted as standard
  • Replacing the previous + (Plus) model in the range

Joining the stock CB1000R will be a new Black Addition of the bike, and, you guessed it, it’s only available in one colour – black. The clear-coated rear subframe of the bike is now gone and all of the chrome detailing of before is gone, with just some tiny aluminium elements remaining on the engine casings, wheels and exhaust.

Styling aside, the Black Edition gets a flyscreen and quickshifter as standard.
