Yamaha Fazer 250 spied in India
Faired version of Indian-market FZ25 spotted
WE don’t get the Yamaha FZ25 in Europe but in India it’s one of the firm’s key models. And now it looks like a faired Fazer version is on the way too.
The air-cooled, single-cylinder, SOHC FZ25 is ideal for the Indian market, even if it’s relatively unsophisticated in comparison to European models. Power is modest, at 21hp, but so is weight, at 148kg.
Now a faired version has emerged. It shares the mechanicals of the normal FZ25 along with the fuel tank and seat unit, but gets a new front end with a pretty extensive fairing. To keep the family look and cut costs, the headlight unit is transposed from the naked version into the new model, but distinctive horizontal running lights are added on either side.
The bike’s launch in India is expected in October this year. The chances of it making it to Europe, over ABS and emission hurdles, are slim to zero. But with the popularity of budget single-cylinder commuters like the Honda CBF125, maybe we could do with some better looking and sligtly faster alternatives.
