Touratech, which is a company best known for its adventure motorcycle equipment, has revealed new crash bars for the BMW R12 G/S, which it says offers an “unrivalled level of protection”.

According to Touratech, the three-dimensional protector “effectively protects the particularly vulnerable cylinder heads and valve covers from damage – both off-road and on the road”.

Touratech goes on to say that the “combination of high-strength material, sophisticated geometry and dual mounting points on the frame achieves an unrivalled level of protection”. The R12 G/S’s crash bars are made from stainless steel.

The precision-welded tubes are finished with a matt powder coating, which is available in black or a vibrant red option. The black version features laser markings that offer additional accents.

Furthermore, Touratech’s new Tech-Plates can be seamlessly integrated into various protective components, including the crash bars for the BMW R12 G/S. The lower Tech-Plate is made of 4mm stainless steel, while the upper plate is made from 4mm-strong aluminium. It also has a black anodised finish.

Touratech says its Tech-Plates “increase the overall rigidity of the structure, thereby further enhancing the protective effect”.

The Touratech engine crash bar for the BMW R12 G/S is available both as a standalone item, or as part of a bundle with the above-mentioned Tech-Plates.

The engine crash bar on its own will cost customers £287, while the crash bar with tech plates comes to £435. Both items can be shipped within five days, according to Touratech.

New in 2025, the R12 G/S is currently priced at £14,500 and makes use of the company’s iconic 1,170 air/liquid-cooled boxer twin engine, which produces 109bhp at 7,000rpm and a maximum 85Ib-ft of torque at 6,500 rpm.

You can find out more about the new protection bars on the official Touratech website.
