Fresh colour updates could be around the corner for the Yamaha YZF-R125 and MT125 in Europe after similar updates have landed for the R15 and MT15 in Indonesia.

The presentation of various new colourways aboard its entry-level sportbike and naked bikes, suggests Europe and Japan could be in line for something similar in the not too distant future.

The updates in Indonesia, albeit not significant, continued with the R15 which continues to take after the R1 with its styling. The same can be said for the MT15 when speaking about its bigger naked siblings.

The MT15 also has received new colourways in the form of a light grey option and a matt black variant, although similar colour combos are already available in the UK market as we speak.

What is different about the new line-up is the R15 range as the M model features a colourway replicating the R1M thanks to its grey and black combination on the fuel tank and side fairing. The standard models, meaning the R15 options received updated graphics, in-line with the YZF-R25 and R3 models.

In terms of ‘on bike’ updates, there are none as technical specifications remain unchanged for both models. The YZF-R15 continues to offer a liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 19bhp at 10000rpm and a maximum torque of 10.8Ib ft of torque at 8500rpm.

With a weight of just 137kg, the R15 is equipped with disc brakes on both wheels and 17-inch tyres. Slightly lighter in weight at 133 kg, the MT15 shares the same power unit and offers similar features, as it mainly differentiates itself through the lack of a sporty front-end fairing.

Although the updates are minor, they are expected to carry over into the Japanese and European markets which is an intriguing prospect.
